Google Workspace Changes

Veo 3 video generation model is now available in the Gemini app for select Workspace users, offering enhanced video creation capabilities.

At Google I/O 2025, Google introduced Veo 3, their latest video generation model capable of generating video with audio. Now, Veo 3 is accessible within the Gemini app for a select group of Workspace customers. This advanced model delivers realistic elements such as real-world physics and accurate lip syncing. Additionally, a new photo-to-video feature allows users to transform still images into 8-second videos, enabling creative animations of objects, drawings, and nature scenes. Users are subject to daily usage limits based on their Google Workspace edition or Google AI Ultra for Business add-on. Veo capabilities are also available for generating video clips in Google Vids.

Users can now upload video files to the Gemini mobile app to provide context for prompts.

Google Workspace users can now upload videos stored on their mobile devices to the Gemini mobile app. This allows users to provide more context to their prompts, such as asking Gemini to summarize the video or specific questions about its content. The rollout to Rapid and Scheduled Release domains is complete, and it's available to all Google Workspace users with access to the Gemini app.

Introduction of Google AI Ultra for Business, a new Workspace add-on for advanced AI features.

Google AI Ultra for Business is a new Workspace add-on providing the highest access to AI features and models, including next-generation AI tools. It offers enhanced capabilities for Gemini app, NotebookLM, Gemini in Workspace, Flow, Whisk, and Project Mariner. It also includes 12,500 credits per month for use in Flow, Whisk, and other credit-based products.

The Gemini app, included with Google AI Ultra for Business, now features access to Google's most capable AI models. This includes higher usage limits for Gemini 2.5 Pro, Veo 3 (the latest video generation model), and Deep Research. Subscribers will also gain access to Deep Think, an enhanced reasoning mode designed for highly complex math and coding tasks, in the near future.

Deep Research in Gemini has new enhancements.

Deep Research can now use 2.5 Flash experimental model. Users can upload PDFs and images directly into Deep Research. Gemini will proactively suggest related resources. Reports can be imported, edited, and refined directly into Canvas before exporting to Docs.

Generate quizzes for any subject using Canvas in the Gemini app by uploading relevant documents or simply entering a prompt.

Users can now create quizzes using Canvas within the Gemini app. This feature allows users to generate interactive quizzes based on uploaded documents or prompts, receiving instant feedback, hints, and insights. Quizzes are available in all languages and regions supported by the Gemini app for users aged 18+. There are no admin controls for Canvas. This is available for Business, Education, Frontline, and Nonprofits Google Workspace customers with Gemini add-ons.

Google Workspace apps (formerly known as "extensions") are now generally available in Gemini. When enabled, Gemini can reference and incorporate data from these apps to generate more informed and relevant responses, enhancing productivity. Workspace apps are available for Calendar, Docs, Drive, Gmail, Keep, and Tasks.

Audio Overview in the Gemini app is now available in 45 additional languages

Gemini app users can now generate podcast-style conversations based on documents, slides, and Deep Research reports using Audio Overview.

2.5 Pro Preview: our latest Pro experimental model is now available in the Gemini app

Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview continues to improve on the execution of complex tasks and delivery of enhanced response accuracy previously found in 2.5 Pro experimental. More specifically, 2.5 Pro Preview is powering features like Canvas, and enabling anyone to vibe code and build interactive web apps with a single prompt

Admins can pre-configure Gemini app conversation history settings before they take effect. By default, conversation history will be ON and retention will be 18 months.

Workspace admins can now pre-configure the Gemini conversation history admin settings before they take effect for their Gemini app users, which is expected by the end of May 2025. The default settings will be with “Gemini conversation history” set to ON and ”Conversation retention” set to 18 months. If no changes are made, the default settings will apply. Users cannot override the Gemini conversation history settings configured by their admin.

File upload to Gems in the Gemini app is now supported in more languages.

You can now add files to your Gem instructions in the Gemini app in all supported languages. Uploading files from your device or Google Drive to your Gem instructions gives your Gem more context and helps tailor its responses to meet your specific needs.

Deep Research is now available on the Gemini mobile app, bringing hours of research to your fingertips in minutes.

Deep Research brings hours of research to your fingertips in mere minutes by exploring complex topics on your behalf and presenting its findings in a comprehensive, easy-to-read report. Now, you can now use Deep Research in the Gemini mobile app, too.

You can now generate images in Gmail on your mobile device using Gemini in the side panel.

Building upon the ability to generate images using Gemini in the side panel of Workspace apps on web, you can now generate images in Gmail on your mobile device. Once you select the image, you can then save it, copy it, or insert it into a compose draft.

Control Workspace Business and Enterprise users’ access to new Google Workspace with Gemini alpha features before general availability.

Turning this on gives your users a head start on leveraging our latest AI features and the opportunity to provide Google with helpful feedback as we develop new features.
