Pin messages to the top of the meeting chat in Google Meet.

Meeting participants can now pin messages to the top of the meeting chat. Pinned messages will appear for all users, even if they join the meeting after the message was initially sent. This makes it easy to ensure that important messages - like links to presentations - are displayed prominently and easily accessible by meeting participants.

Google Meet Hardware AUE is now referred to as 'end of Meet support'.

The terminology for when a Meet hardware device is no longer supported is changing. ‘End of Meet support date’ replaces Auto-Update Expiration (AUE) in the Meet hardware Help Center. The Admin console will show ‘end of Meet support’ instead of ‘EOL (end of life)’ in both device information and fleet overview pages.

You can now quickly join a meeting as a guest without signing into a personal or work Google account or creating a new Google account. This functionality already exists for meetings on the web and, by expanding to mobile, guests now have greater flexibility for joining Meet meetings on the go.

Configurability and activation of peripheral email alerts by issue type.

The ability to configure peripheral email alerts by issue type, including the activation of email alerts for missing display issues, will go into effect starting October 11, 2023. Admins can modify these settings in the Admin console ahead of this date to opt out of specific peripheral issue notifications.

Admins can now monitor missing display issues in the Google Meet hardware Admin console and access a new setting to select which peripheral issue types they wish to be alerted about. This feature began rolling out on September 21, 2023, and may take up to 10 days to become visible on all domains.

Miro integration now opens directly within Google Meet.

The Miro integration for Google Meet has been updated so that Miro boards now open directly within the Meet interface instead of opening in a separate tab with Google Meet in the sidebar. Users can access this updated experience by installing the Miro add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace.

Find and install third-party add-ons directly within Google Meet.

Users can now discover, install, and use third-party applications such as Confluence, Figma, Lucidspark, Miro, Polly, and Read.ai directly within the Google Meet activities panel. A 'Get add-ons' button is also available to browse the Google Workspace Marketplace without leaving the meeting, allowing users to share their screens with all participants regardless of whether they have the add-on installed.

Dual display support is now available for Poly Studio X Series devices in Google Meet.

Google Meet now supports dual displays on Poly Studio X50, X52, and X70 devices, allowing users to view meeting participants and shared content simultaneously on separate screens. This update improves meeting engagement by ensuring that shared presentations do not obscure the view of other participants. To use this feature, devices must be updated to Poly OS 4.0.1 or higher.
