Room Display mode launches in beta for Google Meet on the web, automatically splitting the meeting interface into a Shared View for external displays (showing remote participant video and presentations edge‑to‑edge) and a Personal View on the laptop that acts as a private control center with meeting controls, participant roster, chat, and Ask Gemini panel. It works with Chromium‑based browsers when the laptop is connected to an external display in Extended mode, requires no admin controls, and is rolling out gradually over up to 15 days starting August 19, 2026 for both Rapid and Scheduled Release domains across Business, Enterprise, Frontline, Essentials, and Nonprofits editions.

The new 'Take Notes for me' feature in Google Meet lets users start a note‑taking session from the Meet home screen on web or mobile. Gemini captures audio, creates a structured summary with action items and a full transcript, saves it as a Google Doc in Drive, and emails the link. The feature is rolling out to Rapid and Scheduled Release domains, beginning August 11, 2026 on Android, August 14 on web, and August 31 on iOS, and is available for Business Standard/Plus, Enterprise Standard/Plus, Google AI Pro/Ultra, Frontline Plus, and Google AI Pro for Education add‑ons.

The ‘Take notes for me’ feature in Google Meet is enhanced to automatically capture screenshots of presented content and add them to meeting notes, providing visual context alongside transcripts. Admins can configure screenshot capture settings in the Admin console to either always allow screenshots or only when a recording is enabled, and end users see a notification when presenting. Rollout begins August 3, 2026 for both Rapid and Scheduled Release domains, with a gradual rollout over up to 15 days, and is available for Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and Google AI Pro for Education.
